With a blog, you leverage yourself into a position to explore different avenues for communicating. Moreover, you can extend your reach to different audiences, and by watching and analysing the response, you may be able to tap into different worlds and find a whole new market you never realised you were able to reach.
By creating buzz and interaction with targeted communities in the blogosphere, you are in essence creating a following that will prove pivotal in your social marketing efforts. If you think about it, interaction and word of mouth are the most important marketing tools to master. Trust is critical, and if the audience trusts and likes you, its members will be more likely to like the product or service you are offering.
You can accomplish this easily by encouraging communication and interaction via comments, and this immediate feedback can lead to new ideas. If you manage that honestly and gain the trust of your community, your efforts can lead to even greater rewards, for example, new business opportunities.
Dawud Miracle mentions that one of the most important reasons to blog is because Google and their SE (Search Engines) counterparts love blogs, due to their dynamic nature. Blog posts are generally highly keyword focused and the content is always changing: two big plusses.
This is just a generalisation, and not all blog posts need to be highly keyword focused to be considered as good quality content. The blog matter will vary from industry to industry and a certain style, whether formal or informal may pertain to different markets.
Another reason would be “reputation management” and positioning yourself in your target audience’s mind as an authority. If you can communicate with your audience effectively, you will portray the message that you are on top of your game, are knowledgeable about the product/service that you’re offering and passionate. You are half-way there.
By taking this approach, you can enjoy increased personal growth as a business. As you actively start to build the image that you would like your audience to have in its mind, you will begin a journey of self development, and all that research and knowledge that you are attaining and sharing will start to prove invaluable. This leads to increased confidence in yourself and your business.
The next step is to watch and interpret the communication and feedback you are getting. It’s a two way street, and this interpretation will prove to be extremely useful as you grow.
The most important purpose being that you are now in a position to share knowledge, which in turn opens dialogues, which allows you to learn more about your community. This opens a gateway for your community to have its specific questions answered.
Controversy is good, and it’s important to take the bad with the good. Just be careful not to get into a defensive rut. Watch what you say, as your reputation is always on the line; the aim is to make friends, not enemies.
Market research shows that a blog can achieve attention almost better than any other medium when used the right way.
Blogs are a great tool for communicating, forging relationships and attaining new business. The Search Engines are happy, and you start to build trust and interest from your audience, which leaves you to the nitty gritty: building your brand and your empire.
