- Thomas has a BSC in Electrical Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand, from which he entered the real world as the director of a network support company: Marillion Site services Pty (ltd). They corrected IBM SA’s nationwide desktop PC problems, and expanded to run IBM’s entire desktop and telephone support network, from which Tom gleaned a sharp understanding of the corporate environment and gained invaluable experience in customer support and service levels.
Marillion was later sold to Dimension Data – South Africa’s largest networking company at the time – wherein Tom managed a sizeable Network Support team. At Dimension Data, Tom further developed his experience in SLA, as many high profile clients required 24/7 uptime, for which he was responsible. After resigning, Tom ventured out on his own again as the Managing Director of a Venture capital company that facilitated PC and internet access to students in SA. They ran 3 campus “Internet Café’s” of around 50-80 machines per site, which soon expanded to supply 12 sites. Tom also travelled to Rwanda and became involved in setting up education facilities; a project that he handed over to his technical director upon immigrating to London.
In London, Tom pioneered an IT consulting company, and while conducting research into online marketing and search, he partnered with Louis - MediaVision’s CEO. The two exchanged ideas and formed a uniquely balanced, dynamic business partnership in MediaVision. Tom and Louis nurtured the business organically by drawing on their combined knowledge and research.
Thomas’s expertise lies in creative problem solving, expressed in his ability to simplify complex technical processes through the application of technology. Of the duo, Thomas has an inherent patience and aptitude for administration, from account management and taking care of clients, to ensuring that the company is firmly grounded and equipped to offer quality, effective solutions.
