It’s something that has been in the pipelines for a while now – a Firefox Social Media Extension toolbar! This new toolbar allows the users to create powerful social media accounts and thus an opportunity to be the first to submit stories to four of the top social sites, which currently include: Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon and del.icio.us. Mobile user friendly websitesPosted by Celeste Yates on 27 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Articles When the first mobile phone came out, it was as large as a standard brick used in construction. The aerial had to be pulled out and for the most part of the country there was no signal. Since then, the size has been greatly reduced, the technology improved and features have advanced beyond the standard in and out-coming calls. Latest versions of mobile phones, such as the iPhone, have now got the ability to act as a compact computer with access to the Internet. However, mobile friendly websites aren’t as advanced yet. Kicking off with cunningPosted by Phil Smulian on 26 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Link Development, SEO Strategy, Social Media PageRank is the online currency, although not the only one, because there are still other search giants that don’t trade in PageRank. However, many webmasters and marketers vest much of their interests in that little green Rank-o-meter in the browser toolbar we all know so well. Trends, it cannot be ignored, are there to be followed. It was once the place of every marketer to squeeze relevantly selected keywords into all the right slots, and that would be it. No cutting edge marketing campaigning needed - simply juicing the Meta elements would be enough get somewhere in the search engine results. Now it is different. Some years after the turn of the millennium, the goal posts have shifted so far back that your full efforts are usually not enough to rank a highly competitive page. Mash – Yahoo’s new social networking site to rival FacebookPosted by Katia Pereria on 26 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Hot off the Press, Social Media Yahoo is busy testing an experimental social network service called Mash, of which the aim is to make it easier for Yahoo users to interact with friends and family online. The site, which began an invitation- only preview on Friday, is very similar to Facebook, but with one new “significant” feature - users can edit each other’s profiles, redecorating, changing information, and adding features. Mobile marketing in modern societyPosted by Sandra Cosser on 25 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Hot off the Press I was surfing the net at work the other day, as one does, searching for interesting news postings. There was a very interesting post about A US senator who is suing god, nominally to demonstrate the frivolity of civil court cases in a litigious society. It made for fascinating and amusing reading. Presumably because god is omniscient he knows about the proceedings and doesn’t need a subpoena. But I’m not going to write about a god suing senator, I’m going to write about mobile marketing, also an interesting subject and whether or not it will work in modern society. How important is credibility to your website?Posted by Katia Pereria on 19 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Site Structure It’s not rocket science. Trust is critical in any relationship, be it personal or professional. If the client is going to give you work, he is going to have to feel a strong level of trust in your business. There are different degrees of professionalism, based on your target audience. But alas, there are not varying degrees of trust. If that client is going to pass on his private information, he either trusts you or he doesn’t. When you are trying to get your website off the ground, portraying a high level of professionalism is absolutely vital to the credibility of your website. Desperately seeking privacyPosted by Sandra Cosser on 15 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Social Media I came across a rather disturbing concept this morning. I’m not the most up-to-date person when it comes to technological moving and shaking so please forgive me if this is old news to everyone else. I am making an effort to improve my archaic brain. It is the concept of people search engines. Got to get some SEO - latest hitsPosted by Caitlin Smythe on 13 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Hot off the Press MVI works tirelessly to ensure your voice is heard in the massive Internet arena. And although we rely on our minds rather than our voices to get a point across, we’re proud to testify to our dedication for SEO. Forthwith, the SEO team has released its first hit song, which, if not the new Smells Like Teen Spirit, is guaranteed to get top Google rankings. With Phil (Spectre) on vocals, Dylan (Bob) on drums Anthony (Lommi) on guitar and James (Hendrix) on sound, this newest SEO venture is truly ground breaking. The lilting lead croons, “If I could purchase Google, I’d sell my soul”, implying more than a simple interest in online marketing. Google Map invades privacy rightsPosted by Celeste Yates on 13 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Hot off the Press In May, Google launched a new feature to Google Map called Street View. This option allows the average user to see in virtual and “real time” shots of most of the United States, from a street perspective. These options includes features, such as taking virtual walks or tours through your favourite US city, for example New York or San Diego, as well as find restaurants, shops and see interesting landmarks. When Google was approached about Privacy Violations that their new feature might violate, Google’s spokesperson, Megan Quinn allegedly reported: “This imagery is no different from what any person can readily capture or see walking down the street. Imagery of this kind is available in a wide variety of formats for cities around the world.” Adwords gone mobilePosted by Dylan Brent on 12 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: PPC Google has been playing with the idea of testing and running ads on mobile for the last year and are now formally promoting the idea to SEM (Search Engine Marketing) firms. If Google’s mobile ad requirements conform to the accepted AdWords campaigns, then they will be automatically included in mobile AdWords distribution for free until the 18th of November. That’s right, For Free. | ||||||||||||||||||
